What do you know about Pasta...?

Pasta, long the Italian national pastime, is probably the most earthly embraced cross-over food in our multi-cultural kitchens today. Could any of us, go even a week, without some form of pasta? Hot, cold, floating in soup pasta is as simple as boil, drizzle with oil, sprinkle with cheese and eat. At the next meal, pasta can be dressed up with a creamy smoked salmon sauce and served to royalty.

How much pasta ?

With 13% protein, lots of vitamins and minerals, plenty of fibre and very little fat or sodium, pasta is good for us. But it does not explain its popularity. After all, brussel sprouts are good for us too.

There is so much more to pasta. It is inexpensive (you can even make it yourself with flour, eggs and a little oil) and versatile. It comes in dozens of shapes and sizes, can be stuffed with anything you can imagine and complemented with sauces as simple or complex as you choose.

recipe know and swear that spaghetti with garlic and chili oil, eaten just before sleep, will ward off the effect of too much vino! This explains the Italian zest for life, even the morning after!
